New to Memphis, or just decide you need a little more variety in your routine? Well, I’m here to help you out. I’m going to compile a list of fun stuff that’s happening at regular intervals in Memphis, Tennessee.

• Midsouth Makers – Memphis very own hackerspace! This special interest club is dedicated to the technogeek in all of us, and their topic of choice is DIY projects, “tinkering”, and “modding.” So if you’re looking to learn how lockpicking works, or other fun things of that nature check them out! At the time of writing this post they are holding weekly events every friday at 7pm at the christian brothers university campus!
• Memphis PHP – A local meetup group that meets about once a month. Check them out on Twitter (@MemphisPHP).
• Chess Club @ Mcalister’s On Highland – This event happens weekly from 7-10PM at the McAlister’s Deli in Poplar Plaza at Poplar and Highland. For more information email knightwithoutarmoire@gmail.com.
• The Trolley Tour on South Main – 6 pm to 9 pm the last Friday of every month all year, come rain or shine.
• Memphis Farmers Market – When: Saturdays, Mid-April thru October, 7 am to 1 pm, rain or shine.
  Where: Central Station, S. Front Street at GE Patterson in the Historic South Main District, Downtown Memphis. Here’s a link to the map. And if you miss this event, make sure to check out Trolley Stop Market at 704 Madison Avenue.
• Music at Otherlands Coffee Bar – Every friday beginning at 8:00PM Otherlands Coffee hosts music. The cover is usually $5, and they do sell beer, coffee, and food there. They have a big pattio and a cool atmosphere.
• Java Cabana has lots of music throughout the week.
• The Memphis Zombie Walk.
• Memphis Roller Derby – Suggested by Kerry at the ilovememphis blog (check her out on twitter). They’ll even teach you what you need to know if you want to join — if you’re a girl that is! They have several events per month that are open to the public.

Memphis Comedy

• Big Funny Productions – Hosts an open mic event on Tuesdays �at 9:30pm Neil�s on Madison.� Check them out on Facebook.
• FreakEngine – FreakEngine is a local Memphis group that specializes in Improv Comedy. They’ve been described as “Rocky Horror-esque,” and they meet the first Friday of every month at midnight (which would technically be Saturday).
• Wiseguys Improv – Check them out on Twitter, Facebook Page. At various locations, see webpage.
• Open Mic at P&H 1532 Madison Avenue -� Late night open mic comedy. Starts at either 10 or 11 on Monday nights. I think 11. Call the P&H at (901) 726-0906.

Memphis Karaoke, Open Mic & Bar Trivia

• Karaoke at Dan McGuiness on 4698 Spottswood – Wednesdays & Thursdays from 9:00PM until close, and Sundays from 8:00PM until close. Dan McGuiness (901)761-3711.
• Karaoke at Superior Bar – Karaoke Sun-Thurs starting at 9:00PM. The have a gigantic selection. They’re located at 159 Beale Street. (901)523-9140.
• Karaoke at Dru’s Place on 1474 Madison Avenue - Thursday & Sunday night karaoke from 9pm-12am. (901)275-8082.
• Karaoke at Fox and Hound in East Memphis at 5101 Sanderlin Road – Karaoke on Tuesday nights 9:00PM until close. $2.50 beers. (901)763-201

• Trivia at Celtic Crossing – Quiz night is every Wednesday night. Time isn’t listed. Call Celtic Crossing at (901)274-5151.
• Trivia at Downtown Flying Saucer – Trivia night is every Tuesday night at the Flying Saucer Downtown starting at 7:00PM. Wednesdays at 7:00 is the “buy the beer, collect the glass night” where you can get your hands on a high quality glass from Flying Saucer sporting the logo of the beer you bought.
• Team Trivia at TJ Mulligans in the Pinch District – First place gets $50. Second place gets $25. Third gets $10.� Starts at 8:00 PM every Thursday night. (901)523-1453. 362 North Main Street.
• Spoken Word Poetry Open Mic @ Starbucks at Hacks Cross – Last Saturday of every month from 7pm-10pm at 7945 Winchester Road. Call 901-503-3242 for more info.
