Funky Rails Segmentation Fault with OS X, and MacPorts OpenSSL

… got around it by installing an rvm’d openssl and reinstalling 1.9.3.

Like so…

rvm pkg install openssl; rvm install 1.9.3-p194 --with-openssl-dir=$rvm_path/usr
